Private Pilot License EASA PPL(A)

What is private pilot license?
PPL (A) gives you a right to control single engine aircraft of total mass to 5500 kg, under condition of Visual Flight Rules (VRF).

Private Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) - PPL (A) is the license that will grant you ability to fly your own aeroplane for personal transportation needs or simple pleasure, like taking your friends for sightseeing trip or fly away for a vacation to another city, as long as you are not payed for it.

Having your PPL license you have the right to continue your education to more specialized programs for the following degrees - commercial pilot certificate, a certificate of linear pilot and instructor certificate...

Entry requirements:
  • Age - at least 16 years old;
  • Education - secondary, or higher;
  • English knowledge - Advanced (I speak and understand very well but sometimes have problems with unfamiliar situations and vocabulary);
  • Physical status - valid EASA 1st or 2nd Class Medical Certificate according document PART-MED.
Ground training:
  • Air Law;
  • Aircraft General Knowledge;
  • Human Performance and Limitations;
  • Navigation;
  • Flight Performance and Planning;
  • Communication;
  • Principles of Flight;
  • Meteorology;
  • Operational Procedures.

After completing the theoretical course you must pass these subjects in the Latvian Civil Aviation Agency (Civil Aviation Agency of Latvia) with a score not below 75%. Exam for each subject includes 10 to 16 questions. In general, 9 subjects have 120 questions.

Training course expenses include the following:
  • Theoretical course of 153 hours and learning materials;
  • Individual instruction sessions with Flight instructor before and after the flight (pre flight briefing and flight analysis);
  • Aircraft rental (including fuel and insurance);
  • Latvian Navigation flight fees .
